Tomorrow marks an important day in my life, and one I hope will be remembered with fondness in the long history of ºÚÁϳԹÏ. On July 1, I officially begin my service as your ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï President.
As you may be aware, today the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on two cases with impacts for higher education. In the cases, Students for Fair Admissions, Inc., challenged the consideration of race in admission practices at Harvard University and the University of North Carolina.Â
As we wrap up our spring semester and look toward the year ahead, we wanted to share an update on our commitment to our most valuable resource – our people.
Freedom of expression is the foundation of an ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï education, and we believe that robust debate and civil disagreement—when conducted safely and legally—are signs of an engaged community and a diversity of perspectives.

Today, we are elated to share that our Presidential Search Committee has identified three experienced, highly qualified presidential candidate finalists, each of whom will soon visit our Athens campus and engage in a wide range of settings with our students, faculty, staff, alumni, University leadership and others across the OHIO community.
The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï community will have the opportunity to further engage in the search for OHIO’s 23rd president by meeting candidate finalists during multiple open forums tentatively scheduled for early March on OHIO’s Athens Campus. To date, presidential candidate finalists have not been determined; however, the University plans to share a search update soon.
ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï President Dr. Hugh Sherman has named Dr. Lyn Redington as the University’s vice president for student affairs.
