The CIC directly supports the research and curriculum of ºÚÁϳԹÏ’s Center for International Studies and an ever-expanding circle of students and faculty at ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï and beyond. The CIC provides specialized reference services for Africa, East Asia, Latin America, and Southeast Asia.
Established in the summer of 1999, the Center for International Collections was made possible through the generous support of President Emeritus Dr. Vernon R. Alden and Marion Parson Alden, both whom recognized the value of and championed International Studies with an unparalleled vigor throughout their dynamic and fruitful tenure at ºÚÁϳԹÏ. The CIC is named after Dean Emeritus of ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Libraries, Dr. Hwa-Wei Lee, who was a key contributor to the development of ºÚÁϳԹÏ’s area studies collections during his memorable twenty-one year tenure as Dean (1978-1999). In recognition of his countless contributions to and enduring legacy at ºÚÁϳԹÏ, Dr. Hwa-Wei Lee received an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy from ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï in June 2012.
